We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Tutor to support learners across ages 7-16 who are not currently engaging in mainstream education fully. The successful candidate will provide personalised instruction, foster a positive learning environment, and assist students in achieving their academic and developmental goals with our support and materials. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in children's lives through engaging and tailored teaching methods.
CoreResponsibilities
- Deliver one-on-one tutoring sessions based around the child's interest and our own structured resources.
- Develop customised plans that cater to individual learning styles and special educational needs for each learner.
- Provide mentoring and emotional support to foster confidence and motivation in learners.
- Collaborate with parents, schools, and specialists to monitor progress and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Maintain individual records for each child based on observation and interaction, in order to monitor and track their progress and as a tool for planning and assessment.
- Attend any training for professional development to keep up to date with personal development and regulations.
- Proven experience working with children in educational or childcare settings.
- Knowledge of Trauma informed practice, special education principles, and positive behaviour management is highly desirable.
- Previous tutoring experience across core subjects such as Maths or English is desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively.
- Experience in behaviour management and mentoring young learners.
- Formal qualifications in education, teaching, coaching or related fields will be considered an asset. - Experience working with children or young people with SEND/SEMH
- Experience of safeguarding processes and health & safety procedures
- Enhanced DBS maintained on the update service (can support to obtain)
- Two professional references
- You must have the right to work in the UK
- 5 GCSEs including English and Maths
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Degree
- Additional training around SEND, Autism, Safeguarding, First Aid, Trauma informed practice.
- Flexible
Hours:
Part-time up to full-time hours to suit your schedule. - This role is school term time only (39 weeks of the year). However holiday work is available within our holiday club provision.
