Complex Needs Teaching Assistant

About the role:

Justteachers are working in partnership with a specialist school in Peterborough to recruit a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term, temporary position starting in September
.

The setting supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, moderate to severe learning difficulties and complex needs.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support students in both classroom and structured environments, helping to provide a safe, consistent and engaging learning experience.
This role is well-suited to individuals with prior SEN experience or those looking to build a long-term career within specialist education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with special educational needs
• Assist teachers in delivering differentiated and accessible learning activities
• Support pupils’
  social, emotional and communication development
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies
• Encourage independence and build student confidence
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
• Assist with personal care where required
• Record and monitor pupil progress and behaviou

Pre-requisites:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school or care setting desirable)
• A calm, patient and resilient approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility to respond to the changing needs of pupils
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Right to work in the UK
