Job Description
The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project involves planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water’s region. The SPA Alliance also takes responsibility for future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure.
Health & SafetyRole Overview
Provide Health & Safety advice, guidance and coaching to Project Teams from pre‑construction to handover. Ensure compliance with Strategic Alliance HSEMS through inspections, advisory visits, incident investigations, feedback and briefings to sites. The role is primarily site‑based across the region 4 days per week, with 2 days in the Peterborough office. It will ultimately cover sites across SPA region; ideal candidates located in Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge, Ipswich, Norwich, or Thetford for easier site visits.
Responsibilities- Conduct H&S site visits, including inspections, advisory visits, engagement tours to ensure site compliance with Alliance HSEMS and record on M2i.
- Attend project rehearsals and fit‑for‑assembly meetings to provide H&S advice before the project reaches the site.
- Conduct incident investigations as main investigator or team member, including gathering evidence, interviewing, and completing investigation reports per Alliance HSEMS/parent company.
- Deliver or support delivery of AW passport to work, LIFE orientations, SMS training or briefings to site or office staff.
- Effective communicator with strong presentation and report writing skills.
- People skills – ability to liaise with staff/operatives at all levels.
- Analytical skills to interpret detailed information and regulations.
- Excellent use of MS Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Previous experience in relevant field of Construction / Utilities.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
- Technician grade membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH) or above.
- CSCS Safety Professional card.
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Working towards chartered membership of IOSH – CMIOSH.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
