Senior​/Design Engineer - Mechanical

We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Senior/Electrical Engineer based at @One Alliance, Peterborough office with hybrid working available.

You will report directly to the Principal Engineer and your role will be to provide superior quality Engineering Design services to help the company minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings, taking into account health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards related to the contract.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Produce design layouts that are cost-effective, meet the requirements of the specifications, and can be constructed and commissioned effectively.
• Ensure that standard practices are utilized wherever possible.
• Provide estimates and feedback for the proposals department.
• Work according to procedures and processes to ensure the ongoing development of the department.
• Monitor and review procedures and processes.
• Write, update, and monitor efficient procedures to support the smooth operation of the department.
• Coordinate designs with all other disciplines, internal and external to MWHT, to ensure integrated design processes for the benefit of the entire contract.
• Operate within a culture where customer satisfaction is key to achieving other objectives, recognizing that customers include everyone benefiting from our processes, whether end users or other departments.
• Ensure designs consider environmental issues.
• Ensure that all health and safety requirements are fully incorporated into the design.

Essential qualifications and experience:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering with extensive practical mechanical design experience (ideally 8-10 years for Senior level) in a similar environment.
• Understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
• Ability to rationalize designs and produce economical plant layouts.
• A flexible mindset with the ability to assimilate large amounts of data.
• Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently, and convincingly.
• Proficiency in computer literacy.
