Overview
Mott Mac Donald Bentley are recruiting for a Civil Discipline Lead to join the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA). The 330km Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) Project by Anglian Water is under construction and will be completed during AMP
8. Beyond this we have a further 260km of water transfer pipelines and associated infrastructure to be delivered in AMP
8.
What will you be doing as our new Civil Discipline Lead?
You will provide technical leadership and oversight across all civil engineering design outputs, including Pipelines, Trenchless crossings, Chambers, Roads, Utilities, Pump stations, Service reservoirs, and Drainage systems.
In this role, you will lead the standardisation of design and uphold consistently high standards of quality control, ensuring all design outputs are buildable, safe to install, and fully compliant with client, regulatory, and industry standards.
You will be expected to support construction & procurement teams in delivering complex infrastructure projects by guiding civil engineers through Technical Query responses and providing expert advice on challenging engineering issues during the delivery phase.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the engineering teams with resolution of complex technical issues
- Lead production and ownership of Standard Products, Standard Details and Design Guides to drive efficiency and consistency of outputs.
- Ensure quality and consistency of civil engineering outputs while supporting design teams to achieve their programs
- Ensure civil engineering design outputs deliver value for money for our client while meeting all other requirements
- Represent the SPA engineering team in key technical meetings and support programme decision making for technical elements
- Work closely with the Client, understanding the project requirements and the ability to challenge Client asset standards/proven designs where applicable.
A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours….
- To join the team, you'll hold an engineering degree or equivalent, and ideally be Chartered in an engineering background
- Extensive experience in technical design of large diameter transfer pipelines, including steel, ductile iron and polyethylene materials
- Experience of design elements typically associated with a Non-Infrastructure site, this would include drainage and highway design, etc.
- Experience with in the water industry, construction, and design-and-build environments
- A proven track record of technical leadership on complex, major projects
