Operations Site Controller
£42,813 to £50,368 plus:
- Up to 6% annual bonus
- Up to 10-15% additional earnings through overtime and standby
- Access to a pool/liveried vehicle
Peterborough
This is a site based role (5 days a week) with occasional travel to other operational sites as required. You'll need to be based within a 60‑minute commute of our Peterborough Compressor Station.

You'll lead on safety decision‑making and play a key role in maintaining the assets that keep energy flowing across the UK. You'll also work closely with construction partners to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of new assets.

What you’ll be doingYou’ll be the safety and operational lead on site, overseeing day‑to‑day activities and ensuring work is carried out safely and to the highest standards. In this role, you will:
- Manage the safe setting to work for all site activities, championing a strong safety culture
- Authorise permission documents and complete safety/technical inspections
- Keep accurate operational records and ensure compliance with legislation and industry standards
- Support the installation, commissioning, and integration of new assets
- Contribute to emergency response and security procedures as Incident Controller or Site Main Controller
- Monitor third‑party work and protect vital plant, systems, and equipment
- Assist with maintenance activities to improve site performance and asset reliability
- Join the standby rota once fully trained (typically 1 week in every 4‑5), responding to a range of site issues
You’re a hands‑on engineer, technician, or operative, with strong operational and maintenance experience. You take pride in safe working, enjoy problem‑solving, and can stay calm and confident when working under pressure.

Key requirements & experience- Experience in a mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, or operations discipline
- Strong skills in fault finding, maintenance, and technical decision‑making
- Understanding of hazardous‑area equipment and Safe Systems of Work
- Knowledge of safety, environmental, and compliance requirements for UK legislation
- Appreciation of multidisciplinary engineering within Oil & Gas, power, chemical, or process industries
- Full UK car driving licence
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
