Job Title: Data Scientist

Salary/Grade: £49,519 - £61,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Location: Peterborough

The Opportunity

As a Data Scientist, you will be an integral part of our dedicated analytics team, contributing to the development and deployment of innovative business solutions. You will support electrification and enhance understanding of machine and battery performance with respect to customer requirements. This will involve developing mathematical algorithms, coding solutions and analysing results to provide insight to the wider business.

Our mission is to support our customers in the energy transition by delivering high‑performance and technologically advanced electric vehicles and solutions. Extracting insights from complex datasets, you will influence high level decisions and be part of a team to drive the future of machine power solutions through innovative data analysis. This is a collaborative role, working closely with multiple cross‑functional teams across Caterpillar.

What

You Will Do
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to collect, preprocess, and analyse complex data sets related to vehicle electrification, including battery performance, charging infrastructure, and energy consumption.
  • Predict and improve battery health, degradation, and lifespan through data analysis.
  • Work with team members to develop predictive models for customer behaviours, charging patterns, and energy consumption to optimise vehicle electrification strategies.
  • Develop your understanding of battery electrification, machine analysis and data science techniques by conducting research on data model optimization and algorithms to improve effectiveness and accuracy on data analysis.
