This Mechanical Engineer role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical or mechanic background who enjoys working with engine assemblies, precision components, and mechanical systems. You'll be responsible for the full lifecycle of mechanical assemblies, from disassembly and inspection through to preparation, reassembly, and final presentation. The focus is on producing exhibition-quality mechanical systems that showcase engineering at its best, not production-line output.Job
Responsibilities
- Disassemble engine components and mechanical assemblies with precision and care
- Inspect and assess mechanical parts to determine condition and suitability for reuse
- Reassemble engines and mechanical systems using drawings, diagrams, and build documentation
- Use abrasive tooling including grinders, polishers, and deburring tools to prepare components
- Prepare mechanical parts to exhibition and display standards
- Catalogue components during disassembly using logs, photographs, and diagrams
- Maintain accurate documentation to support correct reassembly and quality control
- Work with fabricators to support the design and build of stands, supports, and transport crates
- Support exhibition and display preparation to ensure components meet visual and technical standards
- Carry out quality checks across disassembly, preparation, and reassembly stages
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer or from a strong mechanic background
- Hands-on experience with engine disassembly and reassembly
- Solid understanding of mechanical components and assemblies
- Experience using abrasive tools and surface preparation equipment
- High level of attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Ability to follow detailed documentation and create accurate build records
- Experience with generators, hydraulic systems, or precision-engineered assemblies is beneficial
- Salary up to £35,000 depending on experience
- Full-time hours Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4.30pm
