FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the wastewater industry for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team.

- Work as part of an integrated delivery team, providing commercial insight, challenging assumptions, and recommending actions to drive out-performance.
- Manage the commercial and cost aspects of various project work packages.
- Act as the commercial conscience of the team, offering support to both delivery management and on-site teams.
- Ensure operations are executed to control costs, maximise value, minimise future liabilities, and maintain the required quality and safety standards, while achieving maximum efficiency and full compliance with Partner and Client governance procedures.
- Ensure robust and accurate cost plans are maintained and aligned with the delivered scope.
- Report in line with agreed deadlines within the commercial calendar and according to the relevant work breakdown structure (WBS) / cost breakdown structure (CBS).
- Support the estimator to provide reliable estimates aligned with scope, accounting for risks and opportunities, including data transfer to the Procurement system and Cost Base.
- Prepare subcontracts to reflect agreed scope and manage them in compliance with contract requirements, including communications, payments, early warnings, compensation events, programme submissions, and maintenance of up-to-date contract files.
- Collaborate closely with the Procurement team to develop and monitor the procurement strategy.
- Work alongside the site team, attending site regularly to ensure awareness and management of allowances and outputs, provide challenge to achieve out performance, communicate change control, and escalate issues when necessary.
- Produce accurate live forecasts considering the programme and report in accordance with the WBS / CBS.
- Monitor actual costs against baseline, value of work done, solution cost progress, affordability challenges, and final outturn calculations; report weekly or as agreed with the Commercial Manager, in line with project governance.
- Ensure all efficiencies are captured in reporting tools within the Client’s timelines.
- Provide reports comparing actual costs versus estimates, identify reasons for variances, and implement resolutions, particularly highlighting, challenging, and resolving deviations from the latest plans.
- Maintain timely records of deliveries (GRNs).
- Work with the integrated delivery team to develop, implement, and administer project and programme risk mitigation plans.
- Administer the contract effectively, including issuing Early Warnings, Contractual Notices, and managing the Owner Controlled Insurance Policy (OCIP); keep the Agent and Managing Quantity Surveyor informed of all commercial matters, including contract correspondence and response preparation.
- Identify and report any withheld, disputed, inadmissible, or disallowed costs to the Managing Quantity Surveyor.
- Ensure change is properly administered with Supply Chain partners and the Client.
- Maintain accurate records so financial information is readily available for audits and cost assurance.
