OpportunityThe Caterpillar Technology team in the UK offers some of the most exciting engineering roles within the global organisation, working on the integration of electronic control systems into multiple Caterpillar products. Integration of the latest electronics and electrical technology helps differentiate Caterpillar products, enabling exceptional performance and value. Our integrated machine systems control all aspects of construction machine operation—engine, transmission or full‑electric powertrain, hydraulic systems—provide the human‑machine interface, and constantly monitor and communicate position, operation, diagnostic, and prognostic information to enable automation, improved productivity and enhanced serviceability.
WhatYou Will Do
We have a number of opportunities available, where you will be part of a global team designing, developing, and enhancing electro‑mechanical systems and mechatronic devices to optimize products and systems used on Caterpillar machine products.

- Embedded Software Developers
- Analytical Thinking:
Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organisational problems and create alternative solutions. - Communicating Complex Concepts:
Ability to use summarisation and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in clear language appropriate to the audience. - Problem Solving:
Ability to recognise, anticipate and resolve organisational, operational or process problems using appropriate tools and techniques. - Embedded Systems:
Ability to develop embedded systems that control machine operations. - Requirements Analysis:
Ability to elicit, analyse and record required business functionality and non‑functionality requirements to ensure project success. - Technical Troubleshooting:
Ability to anticipate, recognise and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, applications or operation.
- Off‑highway machine control system development experience (or comparable experience within automotive, marine or military vehicle control systems)
- NI test bench experience (LabVIEW/Veristand)
- J1939 CAN/Ethernet system experience
- Vector CANape/CANalyzer or similar experience
- This role is based in the office, 5 days per week.
- Less than 10% travel.
