We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support projects across a range of client sites on an initial 6-month contract.
This is a highly practical, site-based role focused on commissioning, snagging, fault finding and resolving outstanding engineering issues.
The successful contractor will be responsible for working through commissioning requirements, identifying problems, understanding why they have occurred and coordinating with the appropriate engineers, contractors or suppliers to get them resolved.
This role would suit a practical engineer with a strong mechanical and electrical understanding, particularly someone who has worked in a commissioning, maintenance, engineering or process environment.
Key Responsibilities
Attend client sites to support commissioning and project completion activities.
Work systematically through commissioning check sheets, punch lists and snagging schedules.
Tick-box and close out outstanding commissioning and engineering requirements.
Identify faults, issues and incomplete works across mechanical and electrical systems.
Investigate problems to establish what is wrong, where the issue is, why it has occurred and what is required to resolve it.
Determine whether an issue sits with mechanical, electrical, controls, process, installation or another discipline.
Coordinate with the appropriate engineer, contractor, supplier or specialist to resolve identified issues.
Follow up outstanding actions and ensure issues are properly closed out.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, process diagrams and technical documentation.
Understand the wider process and how individual pieces of equipment interact within a system.
Carry out basic mechanical and electrical fault finding where appropriate.
Support functional testing and commissioning of plant and equipment.
Identify safety, quality or operational issues and escalate them appropriately.
Liaise with client representatives, site teams, contractors and third-party suppliers.
Provide clear updates on commissioning progress and outstanding issues.
Ensure completed works are properly documented and signed off.
