Senior Financial Accountant

The ONE Group is delighted to be partnering with a highly respected and well-established organisation in Peterborough, renowned for its collaborative culture and flexible approach to work. They are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to take on a pivotal role at the centre of their financial governance.

As a senior member of the finance team, you will shape financial policy, lead statutory reporting, as well as continuous improvements across systems, processes, and technical accounting. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, you will ensure the organisation remains compliant, resilient, and future‑ready.

• Provide expert support on VAT, technical accounting, and complex financial matters
• Strengthen financial controls and improve reporting processes
• Lead the production of high-quality statutory accounts
• Mentor and develop a small finance team
• Manage external audits and liaise with auditors and regulators
• Maintain balance sheet accuracy and oversee tax compliance
• Deliver clear, insightful financial information across the organisation
• Advise on regulatory changes and support finance transformation initiatives

You will be an ACA/ACCA/ICAEW-qualified Accountant with proven experience leading statutory audits and a strong understanding of UK tax legislation. Experience in finance transformation or change‑management projects, along with the ability to coach and develop others, will be highly advantageous.

Although based in Peterborough, the role offers significant flexibility, with only around four office days per month required. The organisation operates a 35‑hour working week with hours of either 8:00 am‑4:00 pm or 9:00 am‑5:00 pm, plus a one‑hour lunch break.

The salary is up to £60,000 per annum, dependent on experience, and is complemented by a car allowance and a comprehensive suite of competitive benefits.
