Personal Tax Assistant Manager

We are seeking a Personal Tax professional to join our Private Client Tax team in Peterborough. The role involves managing a portfolio of high‑net‑worth individuals, families, trusts, estates and offshore structures. Responsibilities include handling tax returns, providing advisory services, IHT reporting, and exposure to cross‑border tax issues within the Baker Tilly International network.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation, submission and review of annual tax returns for all delegated clients.
  • Advising clients on a variety of private client / personal tax issues.
  • Managing a diverse portfolio including high‑net‑worth individuals, wealthy families, trusts, estates and offshore structures.
  • Ensuring compliance with tax regulations and liaising with HMRC.
  • Managing HMRC interventions including s9A inquiries, other investigations and voluntary disclosures.
  • Handling IHT reporting, including IHT 100 and IHT 400 forms.
  • Staying up to date with tax technical knowledge through continuing professional development.
  • Active involvement in tax advisory work and identifying opportunities to secure new work.
  • Supporting business development and marketing initiatives.
  • Coaching junior team members and supporting senior staff on complex projects.
Qualifications
  • CTA/ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent;
    Assistant Manager‑level experience in personal tax.
  • Strong professional curiosity and commitment to continuous learning.
  • IT literacy, proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and tax software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise junior staff.
  • Strong organisational skills and prioritisation ability.
  • Problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Positive and committed attitude towards clients and staff.
