Assistant Accountant

Job Description

• Complete month end procedures, including journals, accruals, variance analysis, and management reporting
• Assist with the preparation and analysis of budgets and forecasts
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
• Maintain and update daily cash trackers
• Support PSA, ONS, and environmental submissions
• Assist with audits by preparing and providing required documentation
• Support systems testing and implementation initiatives as required
• Provide ad hoc support to the wider finance team and offer cross cover where needed

• Previous experience in a ledger or accounts assistant role, or is a recent graduate
• A good understanding of basic accounting principles
• Strong organisational and problem solving skills, with good attention to detail
• A passion for continuous improvement, both personally and in improving work processes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with at least good Excel skills
• A high level of integrity, with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly
• A proactive approach, able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small hybrid team
• Flexibility and adaptability to support a growing group of companies
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn through coaching and self driven development
• Ideally, you will be AAT qualified or part qualified (CIMA / ACCA), with exposure to finance month end processes, although this is not essential.
