Personal Tax Assistant Manager – Peterborough

Overview

Join a leading accountancy firm as a Personal Tax Assistant Manager. The role involves managing a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts and estates, preparing and reviewing tax returns, and handling IHT reporting while engaging in advisory and business development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, submit and review annual personal tax returns for designated clients.
  • Advise clients on a variety of private-client and personal tax matters.
  • Manage a diverse portfolio including high-net-worth individuals, wealthy families, trusts, estates and offshore structures.
  • Ensure tax returns comply with regulations; liaise with HMRC and clients.
  • Handle HMRC interventions such as S9A enquiries, investigations and voluntary disclosures.
  • Prepare and report IHT 100 and IHT 400 forms.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge via continuing professional development.
  • Identify and support advisory work, spotting opportunities to win new business.
  • Assist in business development and marketing initiatives.
  • Develop junior team members and support senior staff on complex projects.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • CTA, ACA, ACCA qualified or equivalent.
  • Experience as an Assistant Manager or readiness to step into this level.
  • Strong professional curiosity and a desire for continuous learning.
  • IT literate (Excel, Word, tax software).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise junior staff.
  • Organisational and planning skills with strong prioritisation.
  • Problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
  • Capacity to work well under pressure.
  • Positive commitment to the firm in interactions with clients and colleagues.
