Credit Controller / Accounting Assistant
PE Global is recruiting for a Credit Controller / Accounting Assistant role for a leading multi‑national manufacturing client based in Peterborough.
Contract length: 6‑9 months, onsite 5 days per week.
Pay rate: £15.69 per hour (PAYE) or £21.30 per hour (Umbrella).
Responsibilities- Adhere to the dunning process to ensure customers pay to agreed terms, mitigating risk to the organisation.
- Negotiate payment plans, recover interest and ensure collection deadlines are met.
- Provide weekly customer account updates to the Credit Manager and debt recovery progress.
- Lead customer and sales team aged debt reviews.
- Evaluate customers regularly for risk of bad debt.
- Support month‑end closing activities, ensuring timely completion of reporting and reconciliation tasks.
- Effectively execute internal practices in accordance with our policy and corporate guidelines.
- Support the external audit process and internal SOX compliance reviews.
- Contribute towards process improvements, utilising data analytics to deliver new initiatives.
- Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with a high level of precision.
- Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools/techniques to collect data from a variety of sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion (e.g., PowerBI).
- Ability to cultivate strong relationships with internal and external customers at various levels.
- Good knowledge of accounting and financial accounting.
- Experience with credit insurance.
- Fluency in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of PowerBI is advantageous.
- Knowledge of process improvement techniques and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
- Experience with Sarbanes‑Oxley and/or other financial reporting governance controls.
- Prior job‑related experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing/industrial environment, or in debt collection/recovery within credit finance insurance.
- Membership of the Institute of Credit Management (IoCM) or Institute of Export (MIEx).
