Specialist Physiotherapist – Peterborough
Band 6, Fixed term 10 months (until 31 May 2027). Part‑time – 24.75 hours per week. Salary £39,959 – £48,117 per annum pro rata.
Job OverviewThis role is a 0.66 WTE maternity leave cover in the Respiratory department. You will support patient assessment and treatment, facilitate timely discharges, and contribute to service development and multidisciplinary teamwork.
Main Duties- Provide physiotherapy care within the inpatient service, ensuring safe, efficient and evidence‑based delivery of patient‑focussed care.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and multi‑agency teams to deliver high‑quality care.
- Allocate and conduct projects for service development with the team.
- Act autonomously in assessing and treating patients with complex presentations within this speciality.
- Show flexibility in supporting the entire inpatient/outpatient team.
- Provide weekend coverage as required for service developments.
- Deliver clinical supervision and guide Band 5 staff and support staff in therapeutic care plan management.
- Perform 80% clinical contact and 20% operational management aligned with team requirements.
- Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy.
- HCPC Registered.
- Post‑graduate training/qualification relevant to the clinical area.
- CSP Member (member of CSP Specialist section – Agile People).
- Evidence of ongoing CPD and leadership/management training.
- NHS experience at senior level.
- Acute Respiratory skills, including on‑call experience.
- Experience in an acute inpatient hospital environment.
- Multidisciplinary working, change‑management awareness.
- Supervising and mentoring junior staff and pre‑registration students.
- Knowledge of community‑based roles and audit processes.
- Experience working with regional/national networks and community teams.
- Sound respiratory knowledge.
- Understanding of the multi‑disciplinary team within Medicine for Older People and respiratory medicine.
- Awareness of services supporting effective discharge.
- Rapid assessment in a busy, pressured environment.
- Excellent medical leadership and managerial skills.
- Advanced communication and presentation skills.
- Resilience, autonomy, and teamwork.
- High level of clinical reasoning and concise information delivery.
- Proficient IT skills (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
