Specialist Occupational Therapist - Stroke

Overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the stroke therapy service at Peterborough City Hospital. The overall stroke pathway comprises a HASU and ASU at Peterborough City Hospital and acute beds at Hinchingbrooke Hospital. The position is mainly at Peterborough City Hospital; however, flexibility will be required to provide cross-site cover.

• Ensure safe, efficient, and effective delivery of patient-focused care in line with identified evidence-based practice, local and national standards.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams.
• Participate in delegated projects for service development with the team.
• Act autonomously in the assessment and treatment of patients within the specialty who may have a complex presentation.
• Demonstrate a flexible approach to working in support of the whole in patient / out patient team.
• Undertake weekend working as required within service developments.
• Be available to provide clinical supervision.
• Perform 80% clinical contact and 20% operational management as appropriate within team requirements.
• Guide Band 5 and support staff in the management and delivery of therapeutic care plans.

Regular supervision, training and development opportunities will be provided to ensure personal career development. Weekend and bank holiday working will be required. There will be a practical element to the interview; candidates must attend a face‑to‑face interview at Peterborough City Hospital.

Interviews for this role will be conducted in person to assess relevant skills effectively.
