Volunteer Driver – Peterborough

Join us as a Volunteer Driver in Peterborough and become a vital part of our Patient Transport Service in your local area. Your commitment will ensure that vulnerable patients can access essential medical appointments on time, with ease and comfort. As a volunteer you will be the friendly face that patients rely on during their journey to appointments.

• Drive patients to non‑emergency appointments, including renal dialysis, the elderly and outpatient visits.
• Assist individuals in accessing vital hospital services.
• Coordinate with dispatch teams for seamless operations.
• Provide safe, reliable transportation and offer reassurance and support during a challenging time in their lives.
• Maintain a positive relationship within the community.
• Enjoy the autonomy of volunteering independently while having the backing of a supportive team.

• A valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
• A minimum 4‑door vehicle that you own or have access to.
• A friendly, caring and reliable nature.
• Basic smartphone skills to coordinate with our team.
• A willingness to represent our values with every journey.
• Understanding of the NHS and how patient transport services operate is an advantage.
• Demonstrable experience working with vulnerable people is highly valued.
• A DBS check and reference checks will be required; these may take 4–8 weeks to complete.

• 50p per mile mileage reimbursement.
• Meal expenses covered up to £7.50.
