Specialist Occupational Therapist

An exciting fixed term/secondment opportunity to cover maternity leave until June 2027 has arisen for a part‑time Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic Therapy Team. The Team is based across two sites: elective surgery at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and Trauma Orthopaedics at Peterborough City Hospital. The post predominantly will be based at the Peterborough site but may also be required to support at Hinchingbrooke.

We are invested in enhancing your specialist clinical knowledge as well as supporting and developing your managerial and leadership skills.

Successful candidate must be a fully qualified Occupational Therapist, HCPC registered, and have experience in an acute hospital environment, ideally with previous experience working with orthopaedic patients.

Modern healthcare delivery requires a 7‑day service, therefore weekend working is required.

• Provide therapy skills within the inpatient service in the specialist field.
• Ensure safe, efficient and effective delivery of patient‑focussed care in line with identified evidence‑based practice, local and national standards.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and multi‑agency teams.
• Participate in delegated projects for service development.
• Act autonomously in the assessment and treatment of patients with complex presentations within the speciality.
• Demonstrate a flexible approach to working in support of the whole inpatient team.
• Undertake weekend working as required within service developments.
• Provide clinical supervision.
• Guide Band 5 and support staff in the management and delivery of therapeutic care plans.

This role involves 90 % clinical contact and 10 % operational management as appropriate within team requirements.

Priority will be given to colleagues identified as at risk through the Trust’s redeployment process.

Interviews for this role will be conducted in person to assess relevant skills effectively.
