Job summary

We are currently seeking aPrincipal Pharmacist for Infection Management to join our dedicated pharmacy team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced pharmacist to play a pivotal role in managing infection control strategies and delivering expert pharmaceutical care within the Trust.

The Principal Pharmacist for Infection Management will lead and develop infection management services within the Trust, providing expert advice and guidance to multidisciplinary teams on the appropriate use of antimicrobials. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines across the Trust, supporting infection prevention and control initiatives, and ensuring compliance with national and local guidelines.

As part of your role, you will also be involved in clinical governance, education and training, audit, and research initiatives to improve patient safety and outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a team of highly skilled professionals in a fast-paced and varied environment.

* Main duties of the jobYou will be a vital leader within the pharmacy service in our Trust and the principal pharmacist for Infection management.

You will:

Work to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's (RPS) Core Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum*.This includes:

Take professional responsibility for the provision of a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to the designated (CBU) / Specialty area and associated clinical areas and wards to meet their goals.

Act as line manager as shown in the organisational structure chart.

Provide expert clinical and service information to support departmental operational service development and strategic planning.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential Educated to Degree or Masters level in Pharmacy Registered Pharmacist (GPhC)
Postgraduate qualification relevant to hospital pharmacy practice

Leadership / Management qualification relevant to the NHS or equivalent management qualification or experience

Registered Pharmacy non-medical prescriber

Desirable

Postgraduate qualification in Microbiology / Infection Management

Knowledge & Experience

Essential Significant experience in a senior hospital pharmacy management role and significant clinical experience in Infection Management Significant experience in both clinical and financial management

Recent experience of both operational and strategic planning

Experience of working across the wider health economy including partnership work Recent responsibility for managing transformational change programmes

Familiarity with Quality improvement methodologies

Familiarity with national and local medicine commissioning requirements

Experience of leading change management processes

Key Skills

Essential Communication of highly complex information to senior managers, other professionals and patients.

Proven leadership skills

Able to demonstrate effective management and leadership of staff
