Twice a week onsite in Peterborough

We're looking for an experienced Senior Database Administrator with deep Microsoft SQL Server expertise and a passion for automation, cloud technologies and modern database engineering practices.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in a cloud-first environment, helping to drive platform reliability, performance, security and continuous improvement.

SQL DBA, key responsibilities:

• Manage and optimise Microsoft SQL Server environments across on-premises and Azure platforms
• Ensure database performance, availability, security and reliability
• Lead backup, recovery, disaster recovery and high-availability initiatives
• Troubleshoot complex database and application performance issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing improvements
• Partner with development, infrastructure, cloud and security teams to support platform growth and innovation
• Drive database modernisation initiatives, including Database-as-Code, automation and CI/CD adoption
• Develop and maintain operational standards, documentation and best practices
• Participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical production systems

SQL DBA,key skills:

• Strong experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments
• Expertise in performance tuning, query optimisation, T-SQL, backup/recovery and Always On Availability Groups
• Experience supporting SQL Server workloads in Microsoft Azure
• Understanding of database security, governance and compliance best practices
• Experience with scripting and automation using Powershell, Python and Bash
• Knowledge of Dev Ops practices, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and communication skill
