Caretaker, Facility Maintenance, Building Maintenance

Equans is recruiting for a Caretaker to join our team at Ken Stimpson School, Staniland Way, Peterborough (PE4 6JY
). This is a permanent, full-time role working 40 hours per week. Salary: £28,851.00 per annum, with benefits.

• Monday to Friday: 07:00–16:00 or 13:00–22:00 (rotating)
• Week 1: 06:00 – 15:00
• Week 2: 10:30 – 19:30
• On-call rota: approximately 1 in 3 weeks

In this role, you will help maintain a safe, secure, and well‑presented school environment for staff, students, and visitors.

Key responsibilities include:

• Act as the main on‑site contact for facilities requests
• Complete tasks efficiently within agreed time frames
• Support building operations, including opening, closing, and security
• Respond promptly to maintenance issues and emergencies
• Maintain clean, safe, and tidy premises
• Build positive relationships with staff, clients, and contractors
• Monitor site activity, including car park and visitor access
• Handle deliveries and move equipment as needed
• Support cleaning standards and report any issues
• Follow all health & safety and company procedures
• Work independently and as part of a team across multiple sites

• Experience in caretaking, facilities, or site services
• Basic maintenance or DIY skills
• A practical, reliable, and proactive approach
• Good communication and customer‑service skills
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment
• Awareness of health and safety practices

• A full UK driving licence
