Equans is recruiting for a Caretaker to join our team at Ken Stimpson School, Staniland Way, Peterborough (PE4 6JY
). This is a permanent, full‑time role working 40 hours per week.
We offer a salary of £28,851.00 per annum, along with a benefits package.
Shift Pattern- Monday to Friday: 07:00–16:00 or 13:00–22:00 (rotating)
- Week 1: 06:00 – 15:00
- Week 2: 10:30 – 19:30
- On‑call rota: approximately 1 in 3 weeks
In this role, you will help maintain a safe, secure, and well‑presented school environment for staff, students, and visitors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Act as the main on‑site contact for facilities requests
- Complete tasks efficiently within agreed time frames
- Support building operations, including opening, closing, and security
- Respond promptly to maintenance issues and emergencies
- Maintain clean, safe, and tidy premises
- Build positive relationships with staff, clients, and contractors
- Monitor site activity, including car park and visitor access
- Handle deliveries and move equipment as needed
- Support cleaning standards and report any issues
- Follow all health & safety and company procedures
- Work independently and as part of a team across multiple sites
This is a varied, hands‑on role where reliability and a positive, proactive approach are key.

Essential- Experience in caretaking, facilities, or site services
- Basic maintenance or DIY skills
- A practical, reliable, and proactive approach
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment
- Awareness of health and safety practices
- A full UK driving licence
