We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading housing provider for an experienced Housing Officer to join their team in Peterborough.
This is an excellent opportunity for a customer-focused housing professional who is confident managing tenancies, neighbourhood issues and complex customer situations, while delivering a high-quality housing management service.

As a Housing Officer, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of properties and providing a proactive, customer-focused tenancy and neighbourhood management service.
You will act as a key point of contact for residents, helping to sustain tenancies, address concerns and ensure neighbourhoods remain safe, well-managed and welcoming.

Your responsibilities as a Housing Officer will include:

Managing a portfolio of social housing tenancies and estates.
Conducting tenancy visits and regular estate inspections.
Supporting new tenancy sign-ups, tenancy changes, successions, assignments, transfers and terminations.
Proactively managing rent and service charge arrears, working with customers to resolve issues and prevent escalation.
Managing anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases and working with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
Identifying and reporting safeguarding concerns and working with relevant agencies where required.
Carrying out tenancy checks and addressing breaches of tenancy conditions.
Supporting customers at the end of their tenancy to help achieve efficient void turnaround.
Working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure properties meet relevant safety and compliance requirements.
Identifying estate management issues such as fly-tipping, abandoned vehicles and environmental concerns, ensuring these are appropriately reported and followed up.
Building positive relationships with residents, community partners and external agencies.
Supporting customer engagement and initiatives that improve the resident experience.
Preparing reports, maintaining accurate records and ensuring all activity complies with relevant legislation and organisational policies.
Where required, preparing and presenting cases in court in relation to tenancy and income recovery matters.

About You:

We are looking for someone with previous experience in housing management within a social housing environment, with a good understanding of tenancy and neighbourhood management.

You will ideally have:

Experience managing social housing tenancies and tenancy-related issues.
A strong understanding of ASB case management and multi-agency working.
Experience dealing with rent arrears and income recovery.
Knowledge of tenancy legislation, policies and procedures.
Experience managing tenancy changes, breaches and terminations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers and stakeholders.
A proactive, solutions-focused approach to customer service.
The ability to manage your own workload, prioritise competing demands and work effectively as part of a wider team.
Experience handling sensitive and confidential customer information.
A relevant housing qualification such as CIH Level 3, or equivalent experience, would be desirable.

What’s on Offer?
Hybrid working with a balance of home and office/estate-based working.
The opportunity to work for an established housing provider.
A varied Housing Officer role with genuine customer impact.
A supportive and collaborative working environment.
The opportunity to develop your housing management experience and career.

Please note:

This is a field-based role covering properties and estates in and around Peterborough. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential due to the travel involved.

If you are an experienced Housing Officer looking for your next opportunity and have a strong background in social housing, tenancy management and ASB, we would love to hear from you.
