About the role:
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Transport Operations Manager to lead and oversee our day-to-day transport operation.
Working as part of the site leadership team, the Shift Operations Manager acts as the operational lead across assigned shifts, linking the Site Operations Leader with front-line leadership teams and operational functions. The role works closely with warehouse, transport and support functions to coordinate operational activities, maintain legal compliance and support the delivery of customer and business objectives across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
Takes responsibility for leading a safe, legally compliant and customer-focused operation during assigned shifts, ensuring operational standards are maintained at all times.
Acts as the nominated Operator Licence holder for the site, maintaining compliance with transport legislation and company policies.
Ensures colleagues, equipment and operational assets are deployed effectively to maximise productivity and support operational performance.
Leads, coaches and develops colleagues through regular feedback, performance reviews and development planning to build capability and succession.
Monitors operational performance, safety and customer metrics, implementing corrective actions where required to maintain service and compliance.
Communicates operational priorities and performance effectively across the site, promoting collaboration and One Team working.
Actively identifies opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity and operational efficiency, embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
Takes ownership for colleague engagement, wellbeing and recognition, creating an inclusive and high-performing team culture.
Essential:
Transport Manager CPC qualified.
Ability to demonstrate experience in streamlining daily operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and service levels are met.
Experience and skills to improve team engagement and performance levels.
Able to analyse workflows and identify opportunities for improvement.
Able to solve problems and tackle challenges with speed and precision.
Strong analytical and PC skills.
Desirable:
IOSH qualified.
Operator licence holder experience.
Experience in a fast-paced warehouse and transport home delivery environment.
Proficiency in transport, warehouse and stock control management systems and tools.
Proven experience of at least 2 years within operational or supervisory or roles, leading diverse teams.
