About the Senior Project Manager Role at Actemium Automation Peterborough
As Senior Project Manager, you will oversee the full lifecycle of large-scale automation and electrical engineering projects. You will be responsible for project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure, ensuring all objectives are met on time and within budget. This is an opportunity to drive the delivery of cutting-edge solutions across a diverse client base and make a lasting impact in a growing company.
In addition, as a member of the Business Unit's Senior Leadership Team, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the long-term business strategy. Working closely with fellow leaders, you will contribute to strategic decision-making, identify opportunities for growth, operational improvement and innovation, and help steer the Business Unit towards the successful achievement of its long-term objectives.
Main Responsibilities – Senior Project Manager
Lead, organise, and motivate teams to deliver automation and control projects to client specifications and deadlines.
Develop detailed project plans, allocate resources, and manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
Proactively identify and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and changes to ensure successful project outcomes.
Act as the primary point of contact for clients and internal/external stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare and present regular project progress reports, facilitating project meetings with multidisciplinary teams.
Drive project quality through compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and client requirements.
Support the development of junior team members, promoting knowledge sharing and best practice in project management.
Contribute as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting the development and execution of the Business Unit's long-term business plan, driving strategic initiatives and helping to achieve sustainable growth and operational excellence.
The Person – Skills & Experience Required for Senior Project Manager
Significant experience managing engineering, automation, or control systems projects, ideally within industrial sectors.
Strong leadership, decision-making, and team management abilities with a people-centric and collaborative approach.
Proven track record of delivering projects to deadline, budget, and specification.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong commercial awareness and the ability to manage contracts, procurement, and project finances.
Proficient in project management methodologies (such as Prince2, PMBOK, or Agile) and use of project planning and reporting tools.
Relevant degree in engineering, project management, or a related technical or business field.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
