Acting as the key link between the Head of Assets and operational teams, you will lead the delivery of fleet and equipment services that support frontline operations while achieving value for money and continuous service improvement.

You will oversee workshop operations, asset management systems, budgets and procurement activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards and organisational policies. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the Service, you will provide expert advice, drive innovation and contribute to the development of fleet and equipment strategies that support current and future operational requirements.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead and optimise Fleet and Equipment workshop operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and industry best practice.
  • Manage and develop a multidisciplinary team, including maintenance, equipment, stores and administration staff, fostering high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Support the development and implementation of fleet and equipment policies, procedures and strategies that drive consistency, efficiency and service excellence.
  • Oversee asset management systems, ensuring the accuracy, integrity and effective use of fleet and equipment data to inform decision-making and performance reporting.
  • Manage fleet and equipment replacement programmes, procurement activities and capital projects in line with organisational strategies and financial plans.
  • Monitor and manage departmental budgets, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and maximise value for money.
  • Take overall responsibility for workshop health and safety arrangements, including risk assessments, COSHH compliance and engineering competency management.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing specialist advice and ensuring a customer-focused approach to service delivery.
