Overview

Machinist Technician

Peterborough

12-month contract – Rolling

37 hours a week - Monday – Friday

Up to £17.65
PAYE hourly rate OR Umbrella hourly rates up to £23.95

You will be playing a key role in supporting both existing and next-generation engine programs, contributing directly to a business that is actively developing solutions for a low-carbon future. Responsibilities
  • Carry out a variety of machining tasks to support current and new R&D programs
  • Operate conventional lathes, milling, grinding, and boring machines to tight tolerances
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and follow technical instructions
  • Use measuring equipment such as vernier callipers, depth gauges, and thread gauges
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and standard work procedures within the R&D environment
  • Collaborate with engineers, machining coordinators, and wider team members to meet production deadlines
What You Will Need
  • Experience operating conventional machining equipment (lathes, mills, grinding, boring)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
  • Skilled in using precision measuring tools
  • Good PC skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Apprenticeship / City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Machining, or equivalent
  • Experience with Mazak 5-axis, Mazatrol Smooth X, Feature Cam, or Haas Fanuc controls is advantageous
