Overview
A full-time, permanent CNC Machinist role is available in Newark, Nottinghamshire. The position involves the precise setup and efficient operation of both CNC and manual machinery, reporting to the Production Manager. The successful candidate will join a market-leading gate and barrier manufacturer established in 1984, known for its focus on client service and product reliability.
Responsibilities- Producing high quality precision machined components to correct tolerances
- Setting and operating a range of CNC machines
- Manual milling and turning
- Read engineering drawings
- Use and interpret workshop measuring equipment
- Performing visual and manual quality inspection of components
- Report defects to materials, components and equipment
- Record quantities and time taken to machine parts
- Work to an exacting quality standard to ensure parts are machined right first time and on time
- Working to tight tolerances
- Maintenance checks
- Ensure a high level of housekeeping to ensure the on-going cleanliness of the facilities
- Maintain and promote safe working practices and policies whilst engaged in daily duties
- Proven experience working within a similar role
- A sound knowledge of XYZ Lathe and Millers or other CNC tools
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Use of standard workshop inspection equipment such as Vernier’s, micrometres and slip gauges
- Able to use a range of hand tools
- A good communicator who works well in a team environment
- Enjoy working under your own initiative and managing a busy workload
- An understanding of health and safety legislation
- A good standard of literacy and numeracy
- Basic computer knowledge
- Flexible to work overtime/weekends
