Neonatal Practice Development Nurse - Peterborough

We are seeking an experienced neonatal nurse with substantive experience at a band 6 and above and experience of facilitating and teaching in Neonatal care to undertake the role of Practice Development Nurse. This is a highly challenging and rewarding role within our fast-paced service. You must have an interest in education, and the development of evidence-based standards of care. If you are motivated with good leadership ability and excellent clinical skills, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will act as a role model demonstrating excellent standard of professional practice ensuring that these standards are adopted service wide. You will have excellent teaching and presentation skills both in the classroom, virtual and within clinical area You will lead / facilitate to deliver an effective and dynamic education program from our neonatal education strategy to the nursing team, students coming into the service (which includes staff on clinical placement during their neonatal nurse training) and junior staff who need induction and support.

You will be an enthusiastic, motivated senior neonatal nurse with substantive experience at band 6 and above working with the management team. You will have robust organisational skills as well as evidence of an interest in education, ambition, drive and excellent communication skills. He/she will be the principal advisor to the Senior Nurse on both pre and post, education, training, and practice development for neonatal staff.

Person Specification Experience
  • Experience of mentoring students and junior members of staff
Key Skills
  • Good written presentation skills and maintenance of accurate records
  • Effectively prioritises and coordinates own work and that of others
  • Shows good leadership qualities - ability to assess situations, problem solve, identify solutions, support and challenge
  • Demonstrates understanding of safeguarding issues
  • Appreciates the significance of safeguarding and interprets this accurately for all individual
  • Willingness to actively participate in mechanisms to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team through audit.
Education and Qualifications
  • Current registration with the NMC Paediatric RN or Adult RN status
  • Knowledge of MPA facilitator Training
  • Evidence of recruitment and retention training and experience
Knowledge
  • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of nursing within this clinical area
  • Knowledge of NMC Codes of Conduct and/or guidance of professional practice
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of child protection issues
