An extremely exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nursery Nurse to join our friendly neonatal teams on the neonatal units at Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital. This is a fantastic prospect for a Nursery Nurse who is looking to expand their experience into both clinical and community settings. You will join an enthusiastic and motivated multidisciplinary team committed to delivering excellence in neonatal care.
Successful Band 4 candidates must hold NNEB/NVQ Level 3 Childcare or equivalent and have a keen interest in the specialty of Neonatal Nursing.

The role entails supporting and empowering women in their choice of infant feeding on the neonatal unit and providing parents/care givers with additional education to support them taking care of their babies in the neonatal unit and beyond. The post-holder will also be expected to support the Neonatal Feeding Advisor with the implementation of UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative and maintain baby friendly standards across NWAFT.
The post holder will facilitate and support the transition of care for the neonate and their family from the neonatal unit to home, implementing and evaluating programmes of agreed care and ensuring the provision of a high standard of family centred evidence based care within the neonatal unit and in the community.
The appointed Nursery Nurse will become part of the Neonatal Feeding Team and Neonatal Outreach team post holder will work across both SCBU at Hinchingbrooke and NICU at Peterborough but will predominately be based on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Peterborough.

Person Specification Education and Qualifications- NNEB or equivalent qualification in early years or health improvement
- Experience of neonatal nursery nursing in a hospital setting
- UNICEF BFI Train the Trainer Qualification (Neonatal Standards)
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC Cert)
- Specialist training in promotion of breast feeding
- Experience of working in a community setting
- Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the multi disciplinary team and parents/carers
- Ability to deliver written or verbal reports with the awareness of the need for confidentiality
- Ability to advise and teach parenting skills
- Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively
- Acquired knowledge and understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding agenda
- Ability to prioritise own workload and work as part of a team
- Ability to identify problems and recognise when further advice is needed
- Contributes to department by attending team meetings, clinical supervision etc
- Willingness to attend study days
- Awareness of own strengths and weaknesses and how these can be developed/ utilised to benefit staff and patients
- Can demonstrate flexible approach to work pattern in line with service requirements
- Knowledge of professional issues within Trust and NHS
- Ability to develop IT skills required
- Ability to develop in line with dimensions of KSF outline
- Interest in teaching and supervising students/new staff
