Quality Operative

Randstad is partnering with Caterpillar Perkins, a world leader in construction and mining equipment, to find a dedicated Quality Operative to join their Supplier Quality department in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

• As a Quality Operative, you will be responsible for the inspection and investigation of supplied finished parts, ensuring material quality, and supporting the Quality Response team.
• Inspection of supplied finished parts via incoming batch inspection checks.
• Interpreting engineering drawings and technical data.
• Using various measuring equipment, including 3 Axis CMMs and digital micrometers.
• Working with databases like NCM and MFGPro.

• £13.10 per hour
• Excellent Shift Premiums
• Shift Pattern: 3-Shift Weekly Rotation (Mornings: 6am-2pm | Afternoons: 2pm-10pm | Nights: 10pm-6am).
• Overtime:
  Paid at x1.5 on Saturday and x2 on Sunday.
• 25 days holiday + bank holidays.
• Permanent roles reviewed quarterly.

• Proven experience in Quality Inspection.
• Familiarity with Quality Processes and Procedures.
• Experience using databases, specifically MFG Pro, ETQ NCM, and Microsoft Office packages.
• Usage of measuring equipment (hand gauging & other measuring devices).
• Knowledge of component defects, and flow through NCM database.
• Inspection of supplied finish parts via incoming batch inspection checks and track return parts.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Understanding of Dimensional measurement including:
  Form, Angular and Distance measurement, Roundness, Surface Finish.
• Working with Measuring Equipment and Machines including 3 Axis CMMs, Surface finish equipment, Shadow graphs, Hardness testers, Tan Load Machine, Digital Height Micrometer, Component Sectioning Band saws.
• Knowledge of First Principle Measuring techniques and table work.
• Running CMM programs.
