The RoleThe National Account Manager has full profit and loss responsibility for the customer accounts they are assigned. They will work as part of a team who are focused on developing strong relationships and increasing sales with current customers and securing contracts with new customers. To achieve this the post holder must have a sound knowledge of the company’s products and play a key role in the development, launch and sale of new products.
Key Responsibilities- Meet and exceed the sales and profit target(s) identified.
- Manage sales to customers as designated by the Commercial Director and the CEO.
- Proactively contact customers to maintain a high level of service, while identifying and exploiting opportunities for profitable growth.
- Generate sales to existing customers.
- Secure new customers.
- Keep detailed and accurate records.
- Develop and implement key sales, promotional strategies, and joint business plans with customers.
- Build strong relationships with retail buying teams.
- Negotiate prices.
- Deliver clear and structured new product development.
- Develop new business opportunities.
- Undertake all line management duties with regard to account managers/trainee account managers.
- Contribute to the overall commercial strategy and growth of the business.
- Support and actively promote brand integrity and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by ensuring there is engagement and communication between teams, customers and suppliers that continually drives improvement.
- Undertake tasks as directed by the Directors and/or Senior Managers.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- A passion for delivering results and the drive to exceed expectations.
- A team player.
- Self-motivated and a strong commitment to personal development.
- Professional approach and attitude.
- Ideally three years previous sales or commercial experience.
- Previous experience of working within the food industry.
- Ideally educated to a degree level or equivalent.
- Hours of work will be Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
