To perform forklift duties in strict accordance with company HSEQ procedures and industry safe working practices, all aligned to manufactures advised operating criteria and guidelines on all assigned Quaysides and Operational work areas.

Roles & Responsibilities General
  • Conduct daily checks and complete associate compliance documentation.
  • Report any defects found during daily checks or whilst operating the machine.
  • Assist Fitter as and when required in the maintenance of Forklift.
  • Perform forklift duties as per operational requirements in line with Company procedure and industry best practice.
  • Proactively assists with the control of third party vehicles on site to ensure a safe system of work is mainatined at all times.
  • Visually inspect all cargo prior to lifting in compliance with procedure, with particular emphasis on snagging hazards or loose objects, and capture all non-compliant cargo and report back to relevant responsible person.
  • Ensure that familiarty with formal procedures, standing instructions and safety standards and they are complied with at all times.
  • Work at other locations this includes ASCO sites or ASCO client sites as required or instructed.
  • Support quayside operations and undertake cargo handling and vessel loading/unloading in line with applicable competence, operating instructions and HSSEQ standards.
  • Assist in the co‑ordination and processing of all crane lifting operations and utilise transport to ensure vessels are turned around in accordance with Operations/Shipping plans.
  • Liaise with Quayside Supervisor, communicating any problems/delays with cargo operations
  • Participate in and contribute to the day‑to‑day interface between lifting operations and any other affected areas.
  • Follow all instructions (verbal or written) given by the Supervisor/Chargehand pertaining to lifting operations or associated activities.
  • Ensure safe working areas for drivers removing or applying load securing equipment is available.
  • Proactively participate in identifying opportunities to improve customer service, processes and cost effectiveness.
  • Present a positive image of the company through first class service delivery and customer engagement and proactively support the wider team, including working additional hours, to ensure operational standards and deadlines are met.
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues to ensure HSSEQ and operational standards are adhered to and correct in‑role training is achieved.
  • Actively ensure Housekeeping standards are achieved and maintained on the applicable worksite at all times.
  • Ad‑hoc duties as required in line with applicable training/competency assessments undertaken
Minimum Qualifications
  • RTITB Counter Balance Forklift Certificate
  • OPITO Banksman/slinger - INITIAL TRAINING

HSSEQ
  • In partnership with the HSSEQ department, ensure the continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance and compliance to all laws, regulations and industry standards/codes.
  • Continuously participate and promote a pro‑active HSSEQ culture.
  • Reports all incidents or breaches of policy or regulations to the line manager.
  • Fully endorse the ASCO 'Stop the Job' policy and commitment to proactive intervention where an unsafe act or condition is observed.
  • Actively undertake Live Safe Interventions when appropriate and record accordingly.
  • Adherence to the ASCO's integrated management system ensuring document control and improvements to key processes is maintained.
