At Leader Education, we’re proud to be recruiting on behalf of a warm, welcoming and highly inclusive SEND school in Peterlee for a passionate Teaching Assistant.

This specialist setting supports children and young people aged 2–19, creating an environment where every learner is encouraged, supported and celebrated. If you’re someone who wants a role with real purpose — where no two days are the same and every day genuinely matters — this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

You’ll become part of a caring and collaborative team dedicated to helping pupils feel safe, confident and empowered to achieve their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.

What you’ll be doing :
  • Supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs
  • Creating a positive, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
  • Encouraging confidence, independence and social development
  • Working alongside teachers, therapists and support staff to deliver tailored support
  • Celebrating every achievement — big or small
We’d love to hear from you if you:
  • Have experience supporting children or young people, ideally within education or SEND
  • Understand the importance of inclusive practice and personalised support
  • Are calm, patient, empathetic and adaptable
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families and staff
  • Are passionate about making a meaningful difference in young people’s lives

Experience supporting pupils with autism, complex needs or communication difficulties would be highly beneficial. Knowledge of alternative or augmentative communication methods is also a big advantage. Additional training such as safeguarding, first aid or positive behaviour support is welcomed.

What Leader Education can offer:
  • Competitive pay rates
  • £100 refer-a-friend bonus scheme (terms apply)
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant
  • Opportunity for a permanent contract following a qualifying period
  • A rewarding role where you can genuinely impact young lives every day

If you’re ready to start a rewarding role in a supportive specialist setting and want to be part of something truly meaningful, we’d love to hear from you.

To apply, please submit a comprehensive CV outlining your relevant experience and qualifications. Alternatively, email your CV to l or call  for more information.

Leader Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be subject to a thorough vetting process, including enhanced DBS and reference checks.
