Caterpillar in Peterlee, UK is currently hiring a Tooling & Robotics Project Engineer. As a Tooling & Robotics Project Engineer, you will provide leadership to multi‑functional project teams to execute major capital equipment projects at the facility while adhering to Caterpillar's core values of Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, Commitment and Safety. The Project Engineer is responsible for the execution of defined steps of the Facilities Capital and Automation strategic goals.
Jobduties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- The leadership, management and guidance in major capital equipment projects.
- Identifying and implementing enhancements and modifications to complex manufacturing operations equipment and processes.
- Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
- Collaborating with all functional areas (operations, purchasing, manufacturing) to provide robotic solutions that meet the requirements for the facility.
- Engineering/Manufacturing/Management Degree or equivalent experience in Project Management and Manufacturing.
- Excellent PC, Presentation and Communication Skills.
Knowledge and experience of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Problem SolvingKnowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Judgment and Decision MakingKnowledge of the decision‑making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.
Change ManagementKnowledge of the processes and procedures by which to manage change in the production environment and processes effectively.
Manufacturing Best Practices and StandardsKnowledge of best practices and standards for improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and safety of the design, production, and distribution of manufacturing products; ability to create and implement best practices and standards for various manufacturing processes and activities.
Top candidates will also have:- Robotic Welding System and Fabrication & Welding Knowledge.
- NEBOSH/IOSH Qualification or evidence of safety improvement activities.
- Knowledge of PUWER & UKCA regulations.
