* Day

Shift: £19.55 per hour

* Back

Shift: £23.46 per hour

* Night

Shift: £26.39 per hour

* Monday–Saturday Overtime: £29.33 per hour

* Sunday Overtime: £39.10 per hour

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are supporting a leading heavy engineering manufacturer in the Peterlee area as it expands its permanent welding team.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced MIG Welders seeking permanent employment, competitive shift rates, regular overtime and long-term career stability.

WORKING HOURS

The role operates on a 36.5-hour working week across a rotating shift pattern.

Day Shift

* Monday–Thursday: 8:00am–4:00pm

* Friday: 8:00am–12:30pm

Back Shift

* Monday–Thursday: 4:00pm–12:00am

* Friday: 12:30pm–5:00pm

Night Shift

* Monday–Thursday: 12:00am–8:00am

* Friday: 5:00pm–9:30pm

Permanent night shifts may also be available for suitable candidates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* MIG welding heavy steel fabrications.

* Welding materials approximately 8mm–20mm thick.

* Working accurately from engineering drawings and welding procedures.

* Producing high-quality welds to strict quality standards.

* Completing positional welding in a busy manufacturing environment.

* Following safe working practices and maintaining high standards of workmanship.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

* Previous MIG welding experience is essential.

* Experience welding heavy steel fabrications is highly desirable.

* Confidence completing positional welds, including vertical and overhead welds.

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

* Time-served or apprentice-trained welders are preferred.

* Experience working to tight quality standards would be advantageous.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Successful candidates will complete a practical weld assessment before attending a short interview with the hiring team.

Candidates must be confident that they can complete the weld test to the required standard. Further information about the assessment will be provided before attendance.
