This position requires participation in MOD on‑call coverage. The Psychiatrist will provide high‑quality, patient‑centered psychiatric care while serving as Head of the Treatment Team in a dynamic hospital setting.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensure medications and treatment plans meet standards of care and regulatory requirements.
- Secure informed consent or judicial authorization and monitor patient progress, side effects, and treatment plan revisions to support timely discharge.
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, CSBs, and families; assist with high‑volume civil admissions.
- Participate in on‑call coverage and ensure thorough, timely, and compliant documentation (seclusion/restraint and suicide precaution orders).
- Lead treatment team coordination, court‑related matters, staff supervision, performance‑improvement initiatives, and adherence to Medical Staff Bylaws, safety goals, and mandatory training.
- Demonstrated proficiency in comprehensive clinical evaluation, thorough documentation, and sound diagnostic skills for psychiatric and medical conditions.
- Working knowledge of current psychiatric and medical treatment modalities and best practices.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to document clearly and concisely.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary treatment teams.
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree with completion of an accredited/approved psychiatry residency training program.
- Virginia State Medical License.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist.
- DEA Registration.
- Prior experience treating adult patients in an acute psychiatric inpatient environment is desirable.
