Job Description & How to Apply Below

Expert Technical is hiring for a structural BIM designer for a leading precast concrete manufacturer with locations throughout the southeastern U.S. Driven by a mission to support customers, create remarkable structures, and deliver never-before-seen solutions, Tindall relies on innovative design and engineering to build the future. This position will be located at the plant in Petersburg, VA.

DAY-TO-DAY:

The Structural BIM Designer uses digital modeling tools to create, manage, and coordinate complex 3D precast models based on contract drawings, owner specs, or preliminary value-engineered designs. Serving as a project lead, this role manages communication, schedules, and cross-functional coordination.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a project lead, managing timelines, project binders, and schedules.
  • Conduct coordination meetings with architects, engineers, general contractors, and internal sales/estimating teams.
  • Utilize Revit or Solid Works to detail foundation plans, framing plans, elevation drawings, repair work orders, and erection drawings. Direct and review the work of Prepare long-lead item Bills of Materials (BOM), issue material orders to support project schedules, and manage the submittal process for erection drawings to obtain owner/GC approval.
  • Manage RFIs, emails, and client conversations, ensuring clear written post-conversation follow-ups. Notify project management when scope changes impact change orders.
  • Partner closely with Project Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Production Planning to sequence shop cards, resolve site constraints, and issue final "For Construction" drawing packages.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
  • 3+ years of structural BIM detailing/design experience.
  • Hands-on proficiency in Revit or Solid Works is required.
  • Degree (Bachelor's or Associate) in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Construction, or a related discipline preferred. Training or certification in Autodesk Revit or Solid Works is required.
  • Ability to read and thoroughly understand contract drawings, engineering control drawings, and project specifications.
  • Strong communication skills to manage client relationships, RFIs, and schedules.
  • Ability to perform local job site visits during normal working hours using a company truck (valid driver's license required).
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring current or future sponsorship.
WHAT WE OFFER:
  • Paid vacation, paid holidays, an annual plant shutdown, and 1.5x overtime pay during peak demand periods.
  • 401(k) savings plan with company match (3% match on a 6% contribution) and profit-sharing.
  • Employee-only medical with wellness credits, prescription coverage, dental, vision, flexible spending account (FSA), regenerative medicine insurance, and access to an on-site health center.
  • Paid basic life insurance, voluntary & whole life options, STD/LTD disability, critical illness, accident, and hospital insurance.
  • Tuition reimbursement/learning bonus program and an Employee Assistance
