Location:
Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, Virginia. Full Time, Days (7:30AM to 4PM; includes ever fourth weekend of the month and some holidays). On call required.
Job Summary:
The Lead Cardiac Sonographer supervises the department which performs diagnostic, non‑invasive and invasive cardiac examinations using ultrasound equipment to evaluate the heart. The testing modalities include Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing.
- Assists in overseeing, scheduling, and coordinating the sonographers of vascular department.
- Interview, terminate and conduct job performance reviews for associates.
- Input data for associates time and attendance, including making any changes needed in the time keeping system.
- Perform all essential job functions of a Registered Cardiac Sonographer.
- Demonstrate ability to proficiently perform non‑invasive and invasive cardiac exams.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac anatomy, exam procedures, and interpretation of results.
- On call hours required.
- Associates degree in an applied health science field with a concentration in cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography or other related study (preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (required).
- Required credentialed in echocardiography by one of the following organizations:
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by ARDMS.
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by CCI.
- One year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer (required).
- Two years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer (preferred).
- EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience (preferred).
- Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) experience (preferred).
