Job SummaryThe Cardiac Sonographer performs diagnostic, non‑invasive and invasive cardiac examinations using ultrasound equipment to evaluate the heart. Modalities include Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing.
Essential Functions- Perform diagnostic echocardiography examinations using ultrasound equipment to evaluate the heart during Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing examinations.
- Proficiently perform non‑invasive and invasive cardiac exams.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac anatomy, exam procedures, and interpretation of results.
- Prepare and monitor patients before and during procedures.
- Utilize the hospital electronic medical record to review patient information and document any critical findings.
- Available for on‑call hours.
- Associate’s degree in an applied health science field with a concentration in cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography or related study (preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (required)
- Credentialed in echocardiography by one of the following organizations:
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- Minimum one year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer (preferred).
- Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred).
- Experience with Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) (preferred).
