Poplar Springs Hospital is a 183-bed acute care and residential facility. The Behavioral Mental Health Tech (MHT) will provide safe, effective patient care under the direction of the Program Director/Manager and Unit Charge Nurse. The MHT will assist in direct patient care, provide HWC, CPR and S/R techniques, mentor new hires and students, perform administrative duties, and act as a role model to patients/residents.

Hours will vary; applicants need flexibility with availability.

• Valid driver’s license in good standing per UHS Transportation policy (preferred)
• CPR (offered on-site, preferred)
• Handle With Care (offered on-site, preferred)
• Bachelor Degree (preferred)
• Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm
• Good communication skills; able to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Basic clerical skills; experience with office equipment; computer skills helpful
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
• Problem solving and ability to accept feedback; willingness to interact with patients of varying cognitive functioning
• Knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology preferred
