Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. PRN (as needed). Two weekend days per month plus at least one holiday per year (Saturday and/or Sunday; 7AM – 3PM), flat rate. Prior acute care experience highly preferred; upcoming Occupational Therapy graduates welcome to apply!

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position:

The incumbent shall be responsible for providing a full range of occupational therapy services including assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions in a team environment consistent with the position’s qualifications, professional practices, and ethical standards. The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to performance improvement activities, problem solving, and productivity.

Employment Qualifications:

• Graduate of a Master’s degree program or a qualified four‑year Bachelor’s degree program approved by ACOTE in collaboration with the AOTA (or foreign equivalent). Current state license or certification to practice.
• Experience working with adult and geriatric populations is desirable.
• Experience working in the acute care setting is desirable but not required.
• Current BLS certification required or obtained within ninety days of completing new employee orientation.

Essential Job Functions:

• Conduct initial assessments.
• Develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide age‑appropriate therapeutic interventions.
• Evaluate patient response to treatment.
• Document the course of patient care in the electronic medical record, including progress made and continuing need for treatment.
• Provide patient and family education on tasks and resources that support continued functional independence and document same in the electronic medical record.
• Participate in discharge planning as part of the interdisciplinary team.
