Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Minimum 36 hours/week)

Are you ready to build a strong foundation in mechanical maintenance while continuing your education? Join our team as a Mechanical Apprentice and gain hands‑on experience under the guidance of skilled mentors. You’ll rotate through various departments, learning how to maintain and repair the equipment that keeps our operations running smoothly.

• Receive on‑the‑job training in maintenance and repair of mill equipment, machinery, and tools.
• Assist with general maintenance tasks requiring care and precision.
• Assist with preventive maintenance including inspection, cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments.
• Assist with tear‑downs, repair, replace, and reassemble mechanical components.
• Report faulty materials, environmental hazards, or improper equipment operation.

• A strong interest in mechanical systems and industrial maintenance.
• 1–2 years of experience in an industrial environment with maintenance exposure (preferred, not required).
• Team‑oriented mindset with strong communication skills to collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and operators.
• Gerdau will provide tuition reimbursement as you are completing an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. Apprentices are expected to maintain a 3.0 GPA or better throughout the program.
• Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing or walking, balance, bend, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, and push and pull objects.
• Ability to work in extreme ambient temperatures up to 160°F.
• Ability to work in cramped quarters and at heights up to 180 feet.

Upon successful completion of the program and earning your AAS degree, you’ll be expected to transition into a full‑time role with a 12‑hour rotating shift schedule, including days, nights, and two consecutive weekends per month.
