Shift and Scheduling

Full‑time Days or Nights available | Self‑Scheduling | 12‑Hour Shifts | Enhanced Tier I Rates | Only floating within units at Southside Medical Center.

Job Summary

The RN Clinical Float Pool assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for the organization. The primary function of this job, based on hiring tier, is to be available and flexible to float to various departments, sites and markets within the organization to provide patient care, including scheduling staff, handling multiple assignments within a shift, travel assignments or seasonal staffing patterns.

Essential

Functions
  • Float within a single site based on competency (Tier 1).
  • Float within multiple sites within a single market based on competency (Tier 2).
  • Float within multiple sites across more than one market based on competency (Tier 3).
  • Demonstrate awareness of and support organization departmental and operating unit goals through continuous quality improvement and departmental activities.
  • Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
  • Incorporate the professional practice model into care delivery.
  • Plan and coordinate nursing care and clinical decisions using the best available evidence.
  • Formulate and implement a plan of care for each patient, including interventions, evaluation of response to interventions and documentation as appropriate.
Education
  • Associate’s of Nursing (required).
  • Bachelor’s of Nursing (BSN) – preferred.
Required Licensing & Certifications
  • Current nursing license in the state of employment (required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS – AHA) – required based on specialty assignment.
Experience
  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care (required).
