DescriptionThe Testing Center Assistant provides support for departmental testing operations, including computer-based and paper/pencil exams, ensuring a secure, comfortable testing environment.
Responsibilities- Administer exams through various delivery systems; proctor make‑up and accommodated tests.
- Greet candidates, verify identification, provide instructions, seat candidates, launch exams, monitor during testing, distribute results, and refer appropriately.
- Prepare testing paperwork, supplies, and computer stations for scheduled assessments.
- Review testing schedules and instructions in advance.
- Compile and evaluate student information to verify testing eligibility; prepare Test Center reports as required.
- Upload and verify test scores, troubleshoot basic software issues, notify supervisor of major errors.
- Coordinate with global help desk centers for complex software problems.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Test Center policies, practices, and procedures.
- Travel periodically to the Waukesha County Jail and the WCTC Waukesha Campus to administer exams.
- Register candidates for testing and answer walk‑in inquiries.
- Respond to policy updates and conduct certification exams to qualify as a proctor.
- Communicate department services to students, faculty, and community; answer phones and provide onsite assistance.
- Participate in assignments and special projects as assigned.
- Flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and Saturdays.
- Strong command of Business English grammar, spelling, punctuation, office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute.
- Proficiency in microcomputer operations (data entry, word processing, spreadsheet/database applications).
- Ability to troubleshoot desktop problems such as rebooting, software installation, workstation setup, and printer issues.
- Aptitude for organization, detail, and accuracy; exercise judgment and discretion.
- Data, report, and record compilation and organization skills.
- Effective communication with diverse individuals, including employees, students, clients, and the public.
- Ability to meet testing credentials and pass a federal background check.
- High school diploma plus one year of additional coursework in computers or a related field.
- One year of work experience in customer service or an office environment.
All applicants must attach a Cover Letter and Resume with the online application. This is a casual position up to 14 hours per week, not eligible for benefits. Applicants cannot be current undergraduate or WCTC students.
Annual salary range: $30,000.00–$50,000.00.
