Instructor - Automotive Technology

Overview

Through leadership by example, provide instruction, administer authentic assessments, and foster an active learning environment that is focused on student foundational competence, success, retention, and completion.

• Develop and maintain course curriculum. Align curriculum to departmental, state, and/or other applicable standards and outcomes.
• Plan, deliver and facilitate student learning, including providing ongoing quality feedback to students.
• Assess student attainment of learning outcomes and critical life skills (both formative and summative), at the course, program, and college level.
• Collect, report, analyze, and use data to support continuous improvement at the course, program and college level.
• Use technology to facilitate student learning, college processes, and personal productivity.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate as a productive member of a team.
• Maintain college learning resources and equipment.
• Participate in recruitment and retention activities.
• Pursue ongoing professional development, maintain occupational competency, and ensure knowledge of current laws and regulations related to the profession(s) in which instruction is provided.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Demonstrated working knowledge of programmatic discipline, curriculum development, effective teaching/learning principles, and evaluation.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills – oral, written, active listening, and non‑verbal cues.
• Strong customer service skills, including working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to manage time, organize work and meet deadlines.
• Ability to effectively integrate technology into instructional delivery and assessment.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal (staff, management, personnel) and external contacts (employers, clients, vendors).
• Ability to apply critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to work and/or to improve processes and/or systems.
• Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and/or with minimal supervision.

• Intermediate level of proficiency with computer software applications such as word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation programs.
• Knowledge of video‑conferencing and technologies associated with adult‑centric teaching and learning, including web technologies, operating systems, online program tracking platforms, social media platforms, mobile technology tools, and/or AV/multimedia applications and equipment.

• Automotive Technical Diploma and/or AAS of Automotive.
• Automotive ASEs in areas taught, GM Master Certifications in areas taught, EPA 609 for A/C instructor.
• Attain and maintain a WTCS teaching certificate.

This position supports the Graphics, Construction and Transportation department. This position requires Wisconsin residence.

This is a full‑time instructor position on a flexible year‑round calendar. Teaching assignments include variable hours, including days, evenings, and/or weekends.
