The Faculty Development Innovation Center (FDIC) plays a vital, college-wide role in shaping the academic experience for both faculty and students. Our team leads initiatives that align curriculum with institutional goals, support the design and continuous improvement of courses, and elevate teaching excellence across all departments. We partner closely with faculty to strengthen instructional practices, integrate innovative learning strategies, and foster a culture of continuous growth.
Our collaborative work is a hub for creativity and professional learning, offering faculty the tools and resources they need to thrive in the classroom. The Instructional Development Specialist develops and evaluates performance-based curriculum; fosters effective communication; and implements curriculum frameworks to ensure curriculum integrity and consistency. This role works in accordance with established policies, procedures, contractual agreements, and state guidelines, and provides assessment-planning support and guidance to instructional staff as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)
- Knowledge of performance-based curriculum/instruction, outcomes-based assessment, and knowledge of curriculum development
- Familiarity with instructional development software, preferably the Worldwide Instructional Design System (WIDS)
- Effective interpersonal communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to manage time and organize work
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal (faculty and staff) and external contacts (clients and vendors)
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and/or with minimal supervision
- Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office software
- Bachelor's degree in Curriculum Development/Design, master's degree preferred
- Three years of teaching experience
- Two years of related non-teaching experience
The Instructional Development Specialist supports the Faculty Development Innovation Center and is available to start on or before February 1, 2025.
