Adjunct Instructor – Communication Skills / Social Science
Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach Communication Skills, Oral/Interpersonal Communication, and Speech (public speaking) courses. The position requires teaching both on‑campus and online, and the instructor must be a Wisconsin state resident.
The successful candidate will provide a strong foundation in communication, demonstrate effective teaching and learning research in lesson planning and content delivery, and contribute to program development and assessment. The role offers opportunities for professional growth, instructional training, and a supportive academic community.
Responsibilities- Deliver high‑quality instruction to a range of program students.
- Integrate technology into teaching of course material.
- Contribute to program development, curriculum design, and program assessment.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students using strong communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate a strong foundation in pedagogy.
- Use feedback as a developmental tool for growth around instructional effectiveness and collegiality.
- Teach effectively in multiple formats (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online).
- Maintain positive relationships within the Liberal Arts and occupational programs at WCTC.
- Master’s Degree in Oral Communications, Public Speaking, or a related field with 18 graduate‑level credits in Oral Communication.
- At least one year of post‑secondary teaching experience required as the lead instructor (not TA work).
- Experience designing, planning, and implementing alternative delivery formats (internet, accelerated, hybrid).
- Experience with CANVAS or a similar learning management system.
- Teaching experience, work experience, or curriculum development in international or diversity studies (desired).
- Online teaching experience required.
